Staying in Kilimani
Leafy, lively and right in the middle of Nairobi. Kilimani puts the city centre, Upper Hill and Westlands minutes from your door — with great food, easy shopping and modern Airbnbs to come home to.
Where it is
Kilimani lies about 5 km west of Nairobi’s city centre, between Upper Hill and Lavington, with Kileleshwa just across the Kirichwa River. Hurlingham and Yaya Centre are at its heart.
That central spot is the big reason people choose it: whether you’re here for meetings, a hospital appointment, a family visit or a safari, almost everything is a short ride away.
Typical drive times outside rush hour. Allow more time at peak hours.

Why guests love Kilimani Airbnbs
Central to everything
The CBD, Upper Hill, Westlands and Lavington are all 5–15 minutes away, so you spend your time in Nairobi, not in traffic.
Room to live
A whole apartment with a kitchen, a sitting room and space to spread out — far more than a hotel room, often for less.
Modern, secure buildings
Gated blocks with 24-hour security, lifts and backup power, many with a pool and gym.
Great for work trips
Upper Hill’s offices, banks and embassies are next door, and home fibre internet is everywhere.
Easy for families and long stays
Cook your own meals, do laundry and settle in. Supermarkets, pharmacies and hospitals are close by.
Real Nairobi life
Leafy streets, coffee shops, choma joints and malls on your doorstep — calmer than Westlands, livelier than the suburbs.

Kilimani eats well: Ethiopian and Brazilian, Swahili coast cooking and, of course, nyama choma.

Unseen Nairobi
A rooftop bar with skyline views, craft cocktails and small plates — made for sundowners.
Casablanca
Lenana Road
A Moroccan-style lounge with silk cushions and a long cocktail list. Relaxed rather than rowdy.

Getting around
- Uber, Bolt and Little ride-hailing are everywhere, day and night — usually the easiest way around.
- Ngong Road is a dual carriageway, and the Nairobi Expressway takes you to JKIA without the city traffic.
- Matatus run along Ngong Road and Argwings Kodhek Road if you want to travel like a local.
- Rush hour (about 6:30–9:00 am and 4:30–7:30 pm) can double journey times. Plan airport trips with time to spare.
Good to know
- M-PESA is accepted almost everywhere, from malls to choma joints.
- Nairobi sits at about 1,700 m: warm, sunny days and cool evenings — pack a light jacket. The rainy seasons are roughly March–May and October–December.
- Like any big city, keep valuables out of sight and take a ride-hailing car at night rather than walking.
- Kilimani’s main roads are Argwings Kodhek Road, Ngong Road, Lenana Road, Dennis Pritt Road and Ring Road Kilimani — handy when giving a driver directions.
